Abstract (en)
[origin: WO8900430A1] A method and apparatus generates superoxides for cleaning and sterilizing contact lenses (5) in an electrolytic solution (3), which optionally includes an antiseptic, such as hydrogen peroxide. The apparatus includes a container in the form of a lens case (1) containing water and/or a disinfectant solution in two chambers (4) in which each one of a pair of contact lenses (5) is immersed. The lens case (1) can be made of nonconductive materials such as glass, most rigid or semi-rigid plastics, or any other material which is not significantly chemically reactive with hydrogen peroxide or free radicals generated in the disinfecting process. The lens case (1) is provided with circular covers (2) which can be threaded onto the lens case (1) to seal the corresponding circular chambers (4) thereby preventing leakage of the solution (3).
