[origin: EP0377085A2] A device for applying an adhesive film, which adheres to a carrier band wound up into a roll before the adhesive film is applied, comprises an application means (23; 123) by means of which the adhesive film (3; 103) is removed from the carrier band (4; 104) as it moves past. A return spool (11; 111) serves for receiving the carrier band (4; 104) after it has passed the application means (23; 123), a kinematic connection (13; 113) being present between the return spool (11; 111) and the carrier-band roll (7; 107). The device (1) for applying the adhesive film is distinguished by the fact that the unwound return spool (11; 111) has a diameter which is at least as large as the greatest possible diameter of the carrier-band roll, that return spool (11; 111) and carrier-band roll (7; 107) are arranged on a common axis (9; 109) and that the kinematic connection is designed as a disc coupling (13; 113). The disc coupling (13; 113) is preferably designed as a magnetic coupling (19, 21; 119, 121). <IMAGE>
