[origin: US5112672A] A security document is equipped with a security element in the form of a thread or strip that is characterized by, among other things, the property of electrical conductivity. The security element is provided for this purpose with a metal coating associated with a second layer that is also electrically conductive but made of a material that maintains its electrical conductivity in spite of mechanical stress such as bending, stretching, etc. Breaks in the metal layer which might occur when the thread is being embedded in the security document or during daily use thus do not result in a complete interruption in the electrical connection, but are bridged by the second, electrically conductive layer.

Ein Sicherheitsdokument ist mit einem Sicherheitselement in Form eines Fadens oder Bandes ausgestattet, das sich unter anderem durch die Eigenschaft der elektrischen Leitfähigkeit auszeichnet. Das Sicherheitselement ist hierzu mit einer metallischen Beschichtung versehen, der eine zweite Schicht zugeordnet ist, die ebenfalls elektrisch leitfähig ist, aber aus einem Material besteht, das auch nach einer mechanischen Belastung wie Biegung, Dehnung etc. die elektrische Leitfähigkeit beibehält. Brüche in der metallischen Schicht, die bei der Einbettung des Fadens in das Sicherheitsdokument oder durch den täglichen Gebrauch entstehen können, führen damit nicht zu einer vollständigen Unterbrechung der elektrischen Verbindung, sondern werden durch die zweite elektrisch leitfähige Schicht überbrückt.
