Abstract (en)

[origin: JPH02234789A] PURPOSE: To perform edging to the edge part of a material by providing the machine with a driving mechanism, sewing mechanism, needle mechanism, looping mechanism and thread feed mechanism for feeding a thread to the needle mechanism and the looping mechanism. CONSTITUTION: A sewing gripper 66 tensions a sewing thread-linking loop 139 around a material edge 135 through a forked grip 150 and moves it to a position over a needle 46, and the needle is inserted through the linking loop 139. A link sewing gripper 66 releases the linking loop 139, the needle is stuck through a material 80, and a thread loop is formed around the arm of the upper linking loop. The sewing thread gripper 65 is passed between the needle and the thread above a needle eye 45 and the sewing thread is passed between lower thread loops for forming the linking loop. A sewing thread guide roller 154 in contact with the opening of a sewing thread guide port 47 facilitates refastening when the sewing thread is unfastened. The linking loop 139 is formed between a sewing thread feed part above the sewing thread guide path 47 and a sewing portion continued to the preceding linking loop.
