[origin: WO8902443A1] The present invention provides human monoclonal antibodies having the following essential characteristics: (a) exhibiting activity against Rh(D) antigen, but not C, c, E or e antigens of the Rh blood group system; (b) being IgGl proteins; (c) having kappa light chains; (d) being of the allotype Glm (1, 2, 17); (e) exhibiting activity against D<V>, D<Tar>, D<VI> and D<B> variant antigens; and (f) being substantially non-reactive with non-papain treated D<IV> cells in an indirect antiglobulin test, which may be employed for Rh-typing of red blood cells and passive immunization to prevent haemolytic disease of the newborn. Such a monoclonal antibody is exemplified by the monoclonal antibody of cell line ECACC 86091603 deposited at the European Collection of Animal Cell Cultures, Porton Down, U.K. on 16th September 1987.

La présente invention se rapporte à des anticorps monoclonaux humains ayant les caractéristiques essentielles suivantes: (a) ils développent une activité contre l'antigène Rh(D) mais ne développe aucune activité contre les antigènes C, c, E ou e du système des groupes sanguins Rh; (b) ils constituent des protéines IgGl; (c) ils comportent des chaînes légères kappa; (d) ils sont de l'allotype Glm (1, 2, 17); (e) ils développent une activité contre les variantes DV, DTar, DVI et DB d'antigènes Rh; et (f) ils sont sensiblement non réactifs avec des cellules DIV traitées sans papaïne dans un test antiglobuline indirect. Lesdits anticorps peuvent être utilisés pour la détermination du Rh de globules rouges du sang et pour une immunisation passive destinée à empêcher les infections hémolytiques chez le nouveau-né. A titre d'exemple, on peut citer l'anticorps monoclonal de la lignée cellulaire ECACC 86091603 déposé auprès de la European Collection of Animal Cell Cultures, Porton Down, U.K. le 16 septembre 1987.
