[origin: WO9000421A1] The self-contained emergency respiratory apparatus comprises a hood (10) which surrounds a person's head in a substantially airtight manner and an assembly (18) consisting of a cylinder of respirable gas under high pressure (20), a pressure-reducing valve (22), an ejection nozzle (24), a pipe (30) for evacuating the air contained in the hood (10) and for mixing this air with the ejected gas, and means (34) for absorbing carbon dioxide.
