Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0378818A1] The invention relates to a rotary sliding gate for vessels intended for molten metal and provided with a bottom tap hole, consisting of a stationary, refractory top brick with a flow channel and of a rotatable, refractory discharge brick resting leaktightly against the said top brick and having a flow channel, the axis of rotation of the discharge brick forming an acute angle with the vertical central axis of the flow channel and the point of intersection of the axis of rotation with the central axis of the flow channel occurring in the cross-sectional plane of the outlet opening of the flow channel in the discharge brick. The invention is characterised in that      a) a slider housing (11) is arranged on a mounting plate (9) secured on the bottom of the vessel, the said housing being pivotable via a hinge arrangement (12) and closable via a closing member (13) with pressure on the sealing and sliding faces (20) of the discharge brick (8) and of the top brick (7),      b) a drivable, annular driver housing (15) which accommodates the discharge brick (8) is arranged rotatably in the slider housing (11),      c) the circumferential surface of the discharge brick (8) is of spherical design in the upper part, below the sealing and sliding face (20),      d) the inner surface of the driver housing (15), the said surface supporting the discharge brick (8), being of corresponding hollow spherical design. <IMAGE>
