[origin: EP0378826A2] The device is proposed for drying inks on paper, especially for drying printed sheets in an offset printing machine. For this purpose, a radiation source is required which produces essentially UV radiation. This radiation source is preferably a UV excimer radiator and is arranged directly on the surface of the paper. The shape of the radiation source is adapted to the course of the transport path of the paper. Additionally, the UV radiation is controlled in dependence on the presence of ink to be dried.
