[origin: WO9007998A1] This device (27) for suspending an upper spacer (20) is carried by a longitudinal beam (40) for clamping the walls (25) of the mould (5), whereby each wall (25) consists of a support frame (30) and a graphite block (31); the spacer (20) and additional spacers are clamped between blocks (31) by beams (40) operated by jacks (45), the slabs being cast between blocks (31) and the four spacers; the device (27) comprises levers (51) rotatably mounted on the beam (40), which carry the screw jacks (61) connected by a rod (67) and support the upper spacer (20); the angular position of the levers (51), operated by a twin-action jack, determines the transversal position of the spacer (20), and the screw jacks (61), each of which is provided with a double pivot, impart a pendular movement to the freely suspended spacer. This assembly facilitates maintenance and upkeep of the mould (5) and, in particular, the removal of the supports (30) from the blocks (31).
