[origin: WO9000040A1] The invention concerns a process and a device for electrical stimulation of the auditory nerve by means of a broad-band, preferably analog, stimulation signal whose curve is similar to the speech signal and a pulse signal, both signals being processed from audio signals. To improve hearing capacity, the pulse signals are transmitted in phase with the positive amplitude of the dominant portion of the speech signal, i.e. with a frequency equal to the frequency of the dominant portion of the speech signal. If an analog speech signal is used, the dominant portion is generally the fundamental wave. The electrode is connected so that the above-mentioned positive amplitude makes the active electrode negative (cathodic), i.e. exerts a stimulating effect.

Un procédé et un dispositif permettent de stimuler électriquement le nerf auditif au moyen d'un signal de stimulation à large bande, de préférence analogique, dont la courbe est similaire à celle d'un signal vocal, et d'au moins un signal d'impulsion, tant le signal de stimulation que le signal d'impulsion étant dérivés de signaux audio. Afin d'améliorer la capacité auditive, les signaux d'impulsion sont transmis en phase avec l'amplitude positive de la partie dominante du signal vocal, à une fréquence correspondante à la fréquence de la partie dominante du signal vocal. Lorsque l'on utilise un signal vocal analogique, la partie dominante est en règle générale l'onde fondamentale. L'électrode est connectée de sorte que ladite amplitude positive rende négative (cathodique) l'électrode active, c'est-à-dire exerce un stimulus.
