[origin: EP0379646A1] The invention relates to a refuse container having an essentially rectangular cross-section, a hinged lid (2) being mounted at one side of the container rim and at the side opposite the hinged-lid bearing a receiving channel (5) being provided which is open at the bottom, is integrally moulded on the container rim and is provided with a guide means situated thereon for the engagement of a gripper of a lifting and tipping device. The invention consists in the fact that the guide means consists of a guide tongue (6) which is integrally moulded in one piece on the outer wall of the receiving channel (5) and is directed downwards away from the container wall. This tongue has in combination with an approximately triangular basic surface tapering downwardly to a point a reinforcing profile running from the base (6a) of said surface towards the tip. <IMAGE>
