[origin: EP0379853A1] A sealed electrical cable is described which is intended for transporting electrical power under high voltage along overhead lines, comprising at least one outer layer (11) formed by elements (13) having a cross-section assuming overall the shape of an S or a Z which are helically wound over a core (3) so as to interlock with each other, characterised in that, in a sectional plane transverse to the cable, the transition edges between the essentially circular outer surfaces of the S- or Z-shaped element and the radial planes limiting the said outer surfaces in the said sectional plane are rounded with a radius of curvature whose ratio to the diameter of the finished cable is between 1 x 10<-><2> and 6 x 10<-><2>. <IMAGE>
