The invention relates to horizontal extrusion presses with a recipient holder (13) and a moving crosshead (14) which are axially displaceable in the press frame between lower guides (10) taking the weight and upper guides (11) performing a hold-down function and, for the correct alignment of the recipient (20) and the extrusion tools (die, ram, mandrel; 21, 22), are provided with adjustable guide shoes (25, 26), the guide shoes (26), which perform a hold-down function, being connected resiliently by pressure elements (33) to the recipient holder (13) and the moving crosshead (14) and being held under the pressure in positive engagement against the upper guides (11). It is the object of the invention to measure angular and transverse deviations of the recipient relative to the extrusion tools of such presses from the aligned position and to correct the said deviations as a function of the measurements, using elements which can cope with the tough conditions (high mechanical and thermal loading and very dirty conditions) of extrusion work. This object is achieved according to the invention by the use, known per se, of sensors (38), which are arranged in parallel to the pressure elements (33), on the upper guide shoes (26) performing the hold-down function, relative to the recipient holder (13) and the moving crosshead (14), between the guide shoes (26) and the recipient holder (13) or moving crosshead (14) supporting them, and measure and indicate the distance of the guide shoes (26) from the recipient holder (13) or moving crosshead (14), or the pressure elements themselves are designed as sensors. Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf liegende Stranpressen mit im Pressenrahmen zwischen unteren (10), das Gewicht abfangenden und oberen (11), niederhaltenden Führungen axial verschiebbarem Aufnehmerhalter (13) und Laufholm (14), die zur fluchtenden Ausrichtung von Aufnehmer (20) und Preßwerkzeugen (Matrize, Stempel, Dorn; 21, 22) mit verstellbaren Führungsschuhen (25, 26) versehen sind, wobei die niederhaltenden Führungsschuhe (26) durch Druckelemente (33) nachgiebig mit dem Aufnehmerhalter (13) und dem Laufholm (14) verbunden und unter der Druckkraft in formschlüssiger Anlage an den oberen Führungen (11) gehalten sind. Es besteht die Aufgabe, Winkel- und Transversalabweichungen von der fluchtenden Lage des Aufnehmers gegenüber den Preßwerkzeugen solcher Pressen mit Elementen zu erfassen und abhängig davon zu korrigieren, die den rauhen Bedingungen (hohe mechanische und thermische Belastungen und starke Verschmutzung) des Strangpreßbetriebes gewachsen sind. Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß durch die an sich bekannte Verwendung von Meßfühlern (38) gelöst, die an den oberen, niederhaltenden Führungsschuhen (26) zum Aufnehmerhalter (13) und zum Laufholm (14) zwischen den Führungsschuhen (26) und dem sie tragenden Aufnehmerhalter (13) bzw. Laufholm (14) den Abstand der Führungsschuhe (26) zum Aufnehmerhalter (13) bzw. Laufholm (14) messend und anzeigend parallel zu den Druckelementen (33) angeordnet oder die Druckelemente selbst als Meßfühler ausgebildet sind. In Weiterbildung der Erfindung können zusätzliche Meßfühler (42) am Aufnehmerhalter (13) und am Laufholm (14) zu den unteren Führungen (10) angeordnet sein.
