The invention relates to an exhaust-gas silencer (10) of an internal-combustion engine, of the type comprising an outer cylindrical casing (12) and a coaxial inner cylindrical tube (14) which between them delimit an annular cylindrical chamber (22), into which are admitted the exhaust gases entering the silencer. <??>According to the invention, the inner tube (14) is a perforated tube (28), of which a first open end (17) forms the single orifice for the admission of the gases into the silencer and of which the other opposite end (18) is closed, and the inner wall of the outer casing is lined with a layer (24) of absorbent material which extends axially substantially over the entire perforated length (28) of the inner tube. <IMAGE>

L'invention concerne un silencieux (10) pour gaz d'échappement d'un moteur à combustion interne du type comportant une enveloppe cylindrique extérieure (12) et un tube cylindrique intérieur (14) coaxial qui délimitent entre eux une chambre cylindrique annulaire (22) dans laquelle sont admis les gaz d'échappement qui pénètrent dans le silencieux. Selon l'invention le tube intérieur (14) est un tube perforé (28) dont une première extrémité ouverte (17) constitue l'orifice d'admission unique des gaz dans le silencieux et dont l'autre extrémité opposée (18) est fermée, et en ce que la paroi interne de l'enveloppe extérieure est doublée d'une couche (24) de matériau absorbant qui s'étend axialement sensiblement sur toute la longueur perforée (28) du tube intérieur.
