In contrast to the prior art according to German Utility Model 8,127,837, in the invention tubular containers (7) are used to accommodate piles (5) of sheets, the inside circumference of which containers is substantially greater but their inside width is smaller than the length of the individual sheet edge (10). It is thus achieved that the pile (5) of sheets standing on its edges (10) in the tubular container is forced into a curved shape which increases the inherent rigidity of the individual sheet and the mutual frictional forces of the sheets are reduced so that their removal is substantially facilitated. <IMAGE>
