[origin: EP0381015A1] The invention relates to a multipurpose suction nozzle for cleaning surfaces of different structures, such as hard smooth surfaces, textile floor coverings or upholstery. The suction nozzle is detachably connected to a suction line of a suction cleaning apparatus by means of a connector which is mounted in an articulated manner. In order to allow simple exchange of the suction tool at a transition from a smooth floor covering to a textile floor covering (1), provision is made for the housing (5, 105, 205) of the suction nozzle (1, 101, 201) to be fitted with a first suction opening (8, 108, 208) with a rotatably mounted brush (9, 109, 209). The bristles (10, 110, 210) of said brush penetrate the first suction opening (8, 108, 208), a first flow channel (17; 117; 216, 220) adjoining the first suction opening (8, 108, 208). A second suction opening (23, 123, 223), arranged in the housing (5, 105, 205), is surrounded by flat sliding surfaces (24, 25; 135, 136, 235, 236), adjoining which there is a second flow channel (30; 130; 221, 232).
