[origin: EP0381025A1] A method and apparatus for the cold deformation of ferrous and non-ferrous metal sections performs spherical bending of the section (17) by means of a bending tool (52) which can be moved and rotated in all three spatial axes. For high-precision and low-stress bending of hollow sections, during which the cross-section of the hollow section must not be changed, it is provided that the section to be bent spherically is bent freely in space without a bending form and abutment, by the bending tool designed as a bending head (52), and that, to safeguard the position of the final bent section (17) leaving the bending head, a winding accessory (48) adjustable in all three spatial axes and, in addition, rotatable, is made to follow in exact alignment under the neutral axis of the bending head at a short distance (three-dimensional coil roll bending process). <IMAGE>
