[origin: EP0382026A1] A method and circuitry are described for coupling an electronic counter (E2) for recording wheel revolutions to a read/write device (E1) which can be connected by simple means for the purposes of data input/output to or from an electronic counter (E2). When the counter (E2) is coupled to the read/write device (E1) a plug-in, at most two-pin, connection line (V1, V2) can be established between the counter (E2) and the read/write device (E1). A transmission mode for carrying information in one direction from the counter (E2) to the read/write device (E1) is formed by superposition of an independent current modulation (13) and a transmission mode is simultaneously established for carrying information in the other direction <from the read/write device (E1) to the counter (E2)> by means of an independent voltage modulation (U2) on a common signal loop (E1, V1, E2, V2). <IMAGE>
