It is concerned with a method for making a trench by the technique of a wall cast in the ground, according to which a wall (10) cast in the ground and surrounding the trench to be made is produced, and then the trench is made by installing boards at various levels of the trench which perform the function of stays for the said wall, characterised in that boards (1) consisting of prestressed board elements are installed, and in that, after said installation, the prestress applied to said elements is released in such a way that said elements exert on the cast wall a counterthrust opposed to the thrust exerted on said wall by the ground.
