[origin: WO9001665A1] A device for cleaning conveying channels (3) with a refractory coating for molten metals and slags comprises chains (2) arranged on a rotary drum (1). The drum (1) is driven by a motor (6) whose current consumption and/or speed vary in function of the load. This variation from a predetermined reference value is used to move the rotating drum (1) across the conveying channel (3) and to ensure optimal cleaning of the channel walls. This can be achieved only with a specific distance between wall and drum (1) and a load on the motor (6) which corresponds approximately to said distance. The drum (1) can be reversibly driven, so that the material removed during the treatment of both sides of the conveying channel (3) is thrown off in the same direction.
