[origin: US5061104A] A flat ball point pen, comprising a cartridge holder part and clasp part, is foldable into a non-writing disposition, wherein one part is pivoted into the other and the two parts define top and bottom surfaces which are flush with each other. In the folded out, or writing disposition, the two parts are firmly connected and have virtually the same length as a standard ball point pen, the clasp part being configured to form a receiving framework for the cartridge holder part, in the form of a closed frame, having two arms joined together at one end and a strut connecting those two arms at the other end. The cartridge holder at its end opposite the writing nib includes a slotted locking member with two walls forming the slot to receive the above mentioned strut, the strut being enclosed between the two walls, with the free ends of the walls ending in facing grooves, which have cleats turned inward. Near the end of the framework, the arms have tongues to receive the grooves when the parts are moved in a relative sense together for locking them together.

Ein aus zwei Teilen bestehender Flachkugelschreiber, derart zusammenklappbar, daß für den Nichtgebrauch das eine Teil im anderen verschwindet und beide eine bündige Ober- und Unterfläche bilden, in der auseinandergeklappten Schreibstellung aber beide Teile die Länge eines normalen Kugelschreibers erreichen, ist so gestaltet, daß der Klippteil (1) zur Bildung einer Minenteilaufnahme (6) als geschlossener Rahmen ausgebildet ist, der aus den in einem Endbereich (3) verbundenen Schenkeln (4a,4b) und einem diese an ihren freien Enden verbindenden Holm (5) besteht, wobei der Minenteil (2) an seinem der Minenspitze (8) gegenüberliegenden Ende als geschlitztes Verriegelungsstück ausgeführt ist, das aus dem einen Schlitz (16) bildenden im Abstand liegenden den Holm (5) zwischen sich aufnehmenden Stegen (11a,11b) besteht, die an ihren freien Enden in einander zugewandten Leisten (12a,12b) enden und im Endbereich der Stege Leisten (15a,15b) angeordnet sind, auf die sich der Schlitz zur Verriegelung von Minenteil und Klippteil schiebt.
