[origin: EP0383148A2] In a folding apparatus having a cutter cylinder (1) which can be driven independently of the speed of the supplied web (9) and which interacts with a counter-cylinder (2) for the purpose of producing web sections (9a), this counter-cylinder being provided with grippers (6) for gripping the front edges of the sections and its circumferential region which leaves the cutting nip being surrounded by a belt guide (10), a high production accuracy and reliability is achieved if at least one of the cylinders (1, 2) bounding the cutting nip is provided with nozzles (12) following the cutting tools (4, 5) and arranged so that their direction of flow is towards the cylinder (2) provided with grippers (6). <IMAGE>
