[origin: EP0383748A2] The invention relates to the making or the renewing of vertical seals in underground constructions to protect against earth moisture. The object of the invention is to design the seal to be more economical and more reliable in operation and thus to avoid digging up the earth. In the process according to the invention, wedge-shaped elements are driven into the ground directly at the masonry surface down to the foundation base. The crack-shaped clearance space which develops between masonry and ground is then filled with a preferably liquid sealing material. An apparatus according to the invention consists of a block-like element with wedge-shaped profile. Arranged within the bottom wedge surface is at least one part which can be released in the perpendicular direction and acts as a wedge valve. In this stop, this wedge valve seals off a filling tube located in the block-like element. The wedge valve is locked on the top edge of the block-like element via a lowering rod running through the filling tube. The filling tube is sealed off at the top end by a cover disc and a closure cap. In the top part of the block-like element, a lateral inflow opening is located in the filling tube. The block-like wedge-shaped element is driven in at the masonry side into the ground down to the foundation base. During withdrawal, sealing material is fed under pressure into the clearance space. By lowering the releasable wedge valve, the seal of the filling tube is opened and an initial opening is created for the sealing material. <IMAGE>
