[origin: WO9002307A1] A hydraulic or pneumatic shock absorber (2) for archery or hunting bows is mounted as a tie between a stabilizing counterweight (5) (spider) and the bow (1) so as to allow a damped movement between the counterweight (5) and the bow (1) in the direction of shooting, although the counterweight (5) is rigidly fastened to the bow perpendicular to the bow and parallel to the direction of shooting. This results in gentler shooting of the arrow and very accurate aim.
