[origin: EP0384136A2] This device is intended for the stepwise treatment of a web (60) of flat material which is spread out over the bearing surface of a work table (1) and comprises a carriage (20) which can be moved back and forth in a controlled manner over the bearing surface of the work table (1) in the direction of the longitudinal extent of the web (60), on which carriage is arranged a head which can be moved back and forth in a controlled manner transversely with respect to the longitudinal extent of the web (60) and is intended for receiving a tool. The device additionally comprises a transport carriage (30) which is provided with a holding arrangement for engagement with the web, and which can be moved back and forth between an engagement position and a release position.
