Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0384378A1] A process for the disposal and processing of water-based drilling muds, liquid and solid drilling residues and contaminated waters is characterised by the following process steps: 1. temporary storage and homogenisation of the water-based, liquid and solid drilling residues, 2. destabilisation of the water-based, liquid and solid drilling residues containing minerals and organic substances by adjusting the pH, 3. circulation of the pH-adjusted water-based, liquid and solid drilling residues, in order to prevent sedimentation, 4. dilution of the water-based, liquid and solid drilling residues, 5. addition of flocculants to the water-based, liquid and solid drilling residues pumped out of the temporary store, 6. flocculation and sedimentation of the solid fractions of the water-based, liquid and solid drilling residues, 7. separation of water and solids, 8. taking-off the sedimented solids for further use or for landfill, if appropriate after prior concentrating, 9. discharge of the water to a treatment plant and/or recirculation of the water for dilution purposes into the process sequence (into the temporary stores).
