[origin: EP0384385A2] A device is described, by means of which, on a web-fed rotary printing machine having printing units arranged in a row and a web guide which is contactless in operation and essentially horizontal, the position of a print carrier web can be altered when the printing machine is switched off in such a way that the normally concealed parts of a printing unit are accessible for refitting or servicing work. The device comprises two web displacement elements, between which the print carrier web is passed in a contactless manner in operation and which can be moved along a vertical guide into an upper or a lower position when the machine is switched off. At least in the lower position, the upper web displacement element is accessible. The web length required for altering the web position is released by an upstream web storage element and tightened again into the operating position when the web displacement elements have been moved back. <IMAGE>
