[origin: EP0384886A1] The process for stretching a synthetic yarn, consisting of a bundle of fibrils, in a liquid stretching bath is characterised in that the yarn is fed to the stretching bath as a sliver of fibrils arranged essentially next to one another and lying essentially in one plane. The yarn is guided via a running-direction deflector device so as to be ordered into a fibril sliver. Alternatively, in addition to the hydrodynamic braking effect caused by the chamber liquid, a mechanical braking effect provided by means of braking pins is, in order to compensate braking losses as a result of lower chamber run-through speeds. <??>The apparatus for stretching a synthetic yarn in a liquid consists essentially of a base part (1) and of a cover part (2) with formed-in portions (3,4) for the joint production of a stretching bath, and with a run-in device (10) for ordering the yarn into an ordered fibril sliver, an apparatus part (1) having the inflow and/or flow-off device for the chamber liquid. <IMAGE>
