[origin: WO9002588A1] A ski brake (1) has two wire arms (7) pivotally mounted in a base plate (2). Said arms can be brought into their operating position by depressing an actuating pedal (5) which pivots against the force of an erecting spring (6). The end sections (7d) of the wire arms (7) are lodged in the actuating pedal (5) and interconnected by a connecting spring (8) to which a rigid intermediate member (9) is hinged. A projection (9b) of the intermediate member (9) abuts on a bearing surface (2f) of the base plate (2). To ensure reliable operation even under difficult conditions, and to prevent the wire arms (7) from catching on the top or on the side edges of the ski (10), a resilient support is provided between the region of the base plate (2) which carries the bearing surface (2f) and the transverse ridge (9k) of the intermediate member (9).
