[origin: EP0386551A1] An adjustment apparatus for carrying out jolt-free and vibration-free linear adjusting movements at least essentially independent of friction, with a carrier (20) for the object (12) to be adjusted and with an actuating mechanism (40) engaging on the carrier, is characterised in that the carrier (20) is supported by respective supporting devices (26; 26.1) at at least two points located at a distance from one another in the direction of the adjusting movement, in that at least one of the supporting devices consists of a generally cylindrical concertina (28) which is filled with an incompressible medium or an incompressible fluid and which is fastened on one end face to the carrier (20) and on the other end face to a foundation (24), and of at least one leafspring (34, 34') which is arranged in front of or behind the associated concertina in the adjusting direction and which is fastened at one end to the foundation (24) and at the other end to the carrier (20), and in that the other supporting device (26, 26.1) or the other supporting devices are also so designed that they make the freedom of movement in the adjusting direction at least essentially free of friction and prevent vibrations of the carrier. <IMAGE>
