Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0386861A1] The working rolls of a planetary rolling mill are subject to high wear. In view of the required accuracy of the rolled material, they must therefore be reground frequently. Given a between-regrind life of the working rolls of about 6 hours, the expenditure of about 12 fitter hours simply for removing and reinstalling the 48 rolls of a roll stand represents a considerable cost factor. The object on which the invention is based is decisively to reduce the time and cost outlay for regrinding. <??>This object is achieved by virtue of the fact, that, for grinding the working rolls (12) of a planetary rolling mill, a complete planetary roll assembly (3) with cages (23) and chocks (4) is removed from the roll stand and clamped in a grinding apparatus having a grinding wheel (11), and the working rolls ground one after the other in the installed state. <IMAGE>
