Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0387761A2] 2.1. Such circuit breakers are provided inside their insulating material housing with an extinguishing chamber which is divided into the actual arc extinguishing region, generally filled with an arc splitter stack, and into a funnel-shape antechamber space, located in front of said region, having the contact arrangement. The object of the invention is to design this antechamber space such that, when the switching arc runs off the contact point, it initially finds a particularly low flow resistance with improved arc guidance, and the overall structure of the extinguishing chamber is simplified. 2.2. Two webs (3d, 3e), projecting in the opening plane of the contact lever (5b) which can be pivoted, are integrally formed on the inner side surfaces (3a) in the antechamber space (3c), which webs are arranged running closely from the contact arrangement (5) along arc running rails (5a', 6, 7) to the arc splitter stack (4). In addition, a plurality of columns (3f), rising from the base of the side surfaces (3a), are arranged distributed approximately evenly between the webs (3d, 3e), which columns, in conjunction with the webs (3d, 3e), result in close lateral guidance of the switching arc (9). The gas pressure produced in front of the wandering arc (9') can be relieved in the flow channels (8) between the columns (3f). 2.3. The design according to the invention of the antechamber space is intended especially for the extinguishing chamber of automatic cut- outs of narrow design. <IMAGE>
