Abstract (en)

The invention relates to a method for forming a new stack in a machine for forming zig-zag stacks from a flexible web. According to this method, the web (3) is broken along the transverse perforation line located between the last flap (60) of the formed stack and the first flap (72) of the new stack to be formed, the broken web (3) isadvanced until the leading edge (73) of the first flap (72) reaches a position corresponding to its final position at the bottom of the new stack, the balance arm device (11) is stopped, the support table (47) is lowered with a view to removing the completed stack and a compressed-air cushion (71) is created, beneath the leading-edge zone (73) of the first flap (72), which forms a temporary support during the absence of the support table (47), the temporary support cushion is removed when the table (47) has returned into its working position and the balance arm device (11) is restarted. <??>The invention is useable downstream from a printer, for example a computer printer. <IMAGE>
