[origin: EP0388488A1] An electrical connector (21) with a locking device has two connector halves (18, 19), each having a housing (1a, 1b) and an insulating moulded material body (2; 2b) (pushed therein from the insertion side) which contains holes (4), for holding contacts (3a, 3b, 30), in which latching hooks (7) are constructed. A securing strip (6) is held in a cavity of the moulded material body (2; 2b) such that it can move, which securing strip contains oblong holes (5), which are aligned with the holes (4), for holding the contacts (3a, 3b; 30), in which oblong holes retaining shoulders (8) are formed out. The contacts (3a, 3b; 30) each have a latching collar (9), in a central region, between two annular slots (10, 11). Locking takes place via a clip fastener which has a clip (15) supported such that it can pivot on the one connector half (18), which clip can be held in an end position after engagement into the other connector half (19). <IMAGE>
