Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0388601A2] 1.1. Forming wire for the wet end of a papermachine, consisting of a single-ply or multi-ply fabric of metal or plastic, which has a reinforcement in the region of its edge-side zone of high wear, to protect against wear by attrition. <??>1.2. To increase the wear resistance of the zones of high wear, it has already been proposed to weave additional wearing threads into the fabric in these zones. This has the disadvantage, however, that the reinforcement must be fitted already during weaving, so that the reinforcing threads must be placed anew for every wire of different width, or the width cut is already fixed during weaving by the positioning of the reinforcing threads, so that it is no longer possible to avoid weaving faults, which very frequently occur in the vicinity of the woven edges. <??>1.3. The invention avoids these disadvantages by applying the reinforcement in the form of a wearing mass to the fabric and joining it thereto, so that the reinforcement of the zones of high wear can be made only after the weaving and fixing or even only after the cutting and seaming of the wire. <IMAGE>
