Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0388632A2] Various forms of switching devices for ball-point pens are known, by means of which the insert is received so as to be longitudinally displaceable between a retracted and a writing position inside a shaft (1) with the assistance of a spring. However, the essential feature of the known embodiments is that a plurality of movable construction elements interact within the framework of the switching device. To simplify the assembly, but in particular to reduce the components required in total within the framework of the switching device, a writing instrument according to the invention is proposed, whose switching device consists solely of an insert part (7), arranged fixedly inside the shaft (1), and an actuating device (4) which is arranged movably inside said insert part and constructed integrally with the pusher (3). The actuating device (4) has a component which is intended to engage with the insert part (7), can be deflected elastically and is swivelled into mutually perpendicular planes for engagement or disengagement. The said component, constructed as a switching rod (13), is provided with switching teeth (22, 23) which interact with control cams of the insert part (7). Both construction elements forming the switching device are constructed as plastic injection mouldings which allow smooth switching movements and secure switching positions. <IMAGE>
