[origin: JPH02274398A] PURPOSE: To make it possible to make various different stepped compacts by inserting a compact tool mount which may be easily reset as an adapter unit into a press for forming the stepped moldings from a powder material. CONSTITUTION: A base plate 1 is in a fixed state and is connected to a press after the tool mount is mounted thereto. A frame comprising a lower connecting plate 2 connected by a connecting rod 4 and a matrix holding plate 3 is freely movably guided to the base plate 1. A die carrier 7 may be moved of starting from the base plate 1 by a release method. A die carrier 12 is activated by the release method similarly to the die carrier 7 and a die carrier 16 is activated by a pulling method like the matrix holding plate 3. The tool mount is so constituted to integrate both of the die carrier plates respectively activated by the release method and the pulling method, by which the production of the stepped compacts of the different shapes over a wide range is made possible.
