[origin: EP0389753A2] The preparation of alkyl polyglycosides of saccharides results in dark-coloured products. Pale-coloured alkyl polyglycosides can be obtained therefrom by catalytic hydrogenation, by adding reducing agents or by bleaching with hydrogen peroxide. It is now possible in a straightforward manner to achieve residue-free bleaching and the preparation of pale-coloured alkyl polyglycosides by treatment of dark-coloured alkyl polyglycoside solutions with ozone in a exchanger column.
