[origin: EP0389779A2] A multipin connector device is proposed which is used in motor vehicles for connecting a cable harness (connected to units in a motor vehicle which are to be controlled) to an electrical switching device. The plug connector (19) of the connector device is in this case provided with a shorting link (29) which is arranged on the contact carrier (20) by simple means in a space-saving and cost-saving manner, and, when the plug connector (19) is disconnected, short circuits the associated contact parts (4) in such a manner as to prevent units connected to the cable harness being able to be operated in an undesired manner as a result of electrostatic charging resulting from the connection of live apparatuses, for example test sets, or resulting from the tools of a fitter touching contact pairs. <IMAGE>
