[origin: EP0390098A1] A railing (1), intended especially for temporary protection against accidents, possesses railing posts (2) and railing beams (3) which are to be fastened so as to be detachable and substantially free from play. Each railing post (2) is provided, at the lower end, with a fastening device (4), the movable tension member (17) of which can be actuated via an adjusting mechanism (10) which forms a reduction gear (20) and is located completely within the post body (6) and the actuating member (11) of which is located at a distance from the fastening device (4).
