Folding unit for a substantially flat flexible textile product, comprising a conveyor band (1) having a carrier surface (7) transporting said product and two secondary driving bands (2, 3) located opposite one another and delimiting a drive corridor (4) terminating at one of its ends in an orifice opposite the carrier surface (7), the product (39) being driven in the drive corridor (4) by being gripped between the said bands (2, 3), said folding unit also comprising means (35, 36) making it possible to lift the product (39) by one of its parts from the carrier surface (7) of the conveyor band (1) as far as the orifice of the drive corridor (4), the bands (2, 3) being actuable both ways in the driving direction. <IMAGE>
