[origin: EP0390750A2] The tension regulator has input and output rollers driving the paper strip, each with a jockey wheel for non-slip grip. Two free rollers, adjacent to the drive rollers, define horizontal lengths of paper. Several return rollers between entry and exit rollers define a paper path of predetermined length. One of these is adjustable to alter tension. A detector locates holes in the paper carrier along the edges of the paper to measure length. The valuesa obtained are compared by a microprocessor with a reference and the result used . to adjust the tension regulator roller.
