Abstract (en)
The absorption silencer is for the engine of a cross-country vehicle in particular, having a perforated exhaust tube on which stuffing of heat-resistant and sound-insulating material such as mineral wool is wound. It comprises a casing in sections for assembly together, of heat-resistant material, threaded on and detachably fixed to the tube, with the stuffing in between. These are secured by front and rear annular joints, of heat-resistant and partly elastic material, and which seal the saing so that the exhaust gas cannot escape.

Pour permettre d'abaisser le bruit à l'échappement d'un moteur à explosion, en particulier pour des véhicules tous terrains, on utilise un silencieux à absorption comprenant: une enveloppe (1) à plusieurs éléments (10,18) assemblables, réalisée en matériau thermorésistant et destinée à être enfilée et fixée, de manière amovible, sur le tube perforé d'échappement (5) avec interposition d'un rembourrage (13) en matériau insonorisant et thermorésistant, au moyen de deux joints annulaires, l'un antérieur (20) et l'autre postérieur (21) réalisés en matériau partiellement élastique et hautement résistant à la chaleur tel que le silicone ou le viton, et qui permettent en outre d'assurer l'étanchéité de l'enveloppe aux gaz d'échappement. Avantageusement, ladite enveloppe (1) est réalisée en matériau thermoplastique tel que par exemple le nylon ou le PPS, suivant le procédé du moulage rotationnel.
