[origin: EP0391826A1] Hinged road manhole consisting of a frame and of a cover. The frame is equipped with at least one upwardly open receptacle, the lateral ends of which are overhung with retaining lips and which opens out towards the inside of said frame. Each receptacle is intended for interacting with a projecting pivot (12) of the cover, thus allowing the cover to be raised in relation to the frame by pivoting about the hinge device. Each pivot (12) has a central part (16) of a thickness greater than that of the lateral parts (17) and (18) surrounding it. <IMAGE>
