[origin: WO8905730A1] A method of generating a coloured image on a substrate (11) comprises exposing an imaging layer (12) on the substrate to a beam of radiation (7) with a predetermined wavelength, the imaging layer comprising an array of different colour imaging components constituting colour forming compounds which are colourless or transparent initially, each component being sensitive to the same predetermined wavelength such that upon exposure to the radiation beam (7) the component in the region of the imaging layer exposed to the radiation beam is activated by the beam to develop the colour corresponding to the colour component exposed to the beam. The radiation beam (7) is controlled to expose predetermined regions of the imaging layer (12) in order to generate the coloured image.

Le procédé décrit, qui sert à produire une image couleur sur un substrat (11), consiste à exposer une couche de formation d'image (12) se trouvant sur le substrat à un faisceau de rayonnement (7) ayant une longueur d'onde prédéterminée. La couche de formation d'image comprend un réseau de différents composants chromatiques d'image qui constituent des composés chromogènes qui au départ sont transparents ou dépourvus de couleurs, chaque composant étant sensible à la même longueur d'onde prédéterminée, de sorte que, lors de l'exposition au faisceau de rayonnement (7), le composant se trouvant dans la région de la couche de formation d'image exposée au faisceau de rayonnement est activé par le faisceau, développant ainsi la couleur correspondant au composant chromatique exposé au faisceau. Le faisceau de rayonnement (7) est régulé de façon à exposer des régions prédéterminées de la couche de formation d'image (12) pour la production de l'image en couleurs.
