[origin: EP0392181A1] The invention proposes a glow plug for arrangement in the combustion chamber of a diesel internal-combustion engine, which has improved regulating behaviour and, in particular, a shorter preliminary glow time in comparison to conventional glow plugs. To achieve this, the invention provides a transition zone (10) in that region of the glow plug which is on the combustion-chamber side, more specifically between the heating coil (7) arranged there and the regulating coil (8), the transition zone being formed by an insulating powder of low thermal conductivity arranged in this region and preventing the heat generated in the heating coil (7) from reaching the regulating coil (8) too quickly. <IMAGE>
