[origin: EP0392249A2] In a connection between spinning and winding machines, in which a plurality of different yarn batches are to be processed, it will be additionally possible to conduct a check of the spinning stations in respect of the quality of the cops produced. According to the invention, the information on the spinning station which has produced the particular cop is connected to the associated pallet by means of a readable information carrier. Different colours of the cop tubes corresponding to the particular yarn batch are detected by colour sensors arranged in a common feed system. These sensors guide the cops together with their pallets into the winding portions assigned to the respective yarn batches. The cops which exceed a predeterminable number of yarn breaks during unwinding are identified accordingly in the winding station. This identification is subsequently detected by a sensor which activates an adjacent reading device. <IMAGE>
