[origin: EP0392301A2] The subject matter of the invention is a luminous display device for optically displaying a multiplicity of information items on a display panel (1). This panel exhibits locations to be illuminated. The planar end of at least one optical fibre bundle is directed towards the rears of these locations. The other end of the bundle can be illuminated by a light source, the light of which, which is directed towards the end of the optical fibre bundle, is interrupted or released in dependence on the respective information. The display panel (1) is divided into segments (3, 4, 5, 6, 24) which can be mounted separately from one another. At the locations to be illuminated on the rear of the segments (3, 4, 5, 6, 24), recesses (7, 8, 9) are provided. The rear of the segments (3, 4, 5, 6, 24) is in each case covered by a light-scattering foil (11). The holders (21) of the optical fibre bundles (22) are arranged in recesses (16, 17, 18) of a plate adjoining the foil, the recesses of which extend to the foil (11) at the locations of the segments to be illuminated. <IMAGE>
