A process and a device (3) and a dowel (13) for improving the quality of sawn timber, in particular boards (1). A hole (11, 12) is drilled in the board (1) in the region of a knot-hole (2) and a cylindrical dowel (13) is inserted into the hole (11, 12). The hole (11, 12) extends obliquely relative to the surface of the board (1) and the dowel (13) has an elliptical front face (15). The device consists of a drilling machine (4) and a carrier frame (5). The carrier frame (5) has a mounting (7) and a support part (6). The drilling machine (4) is held in the mounting (7) obliquely with respect to the board (1). The support part (6) comprises at least one vacuum or low pressure suction foot (8). <IMAGE>

Ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung (3) und ein Dübel (13) zur Verbesserung der Qualität von Schnittholz, insbesondere Brettern (1). In das Brett (1) wird im Bereich eines Astloches (2) ein Loch (11,12) gebohrt und in das Loch (11,12) ein zylindrischer Dübel (13) eingesetzt. Das Loch (11,12) verläuft schräg zur Oberfläche des Brettes (1) und der Dübel (13) weist eine elliptische Stirnfläche (15) auf. Die Vorrichtung besteht aus einer Bohrmaschine (4) und einem Trägerrahmen (5). Der Trägerrahmen (5) weist eine Halterung (7) und einen Auflageteil (6) auf. Die Bohrmaschine (4) ist in der Halterung (7) in bezug auf das Brett (1) schräg gehalten. Der Auflageteil (6) umfaßt mindestens einen Vakuum- bzw. Unterdruckansaugfuß (8). <IMAGE>
