[origin: EP0392453A2] In a centrifugal separator with a suction pipe (29) which is connected to an associated ventilator (24), provided with a circumference-side deflection grid and arranged parallel to the axis in a curved channel (30) which surrounds it and is provided with approximately tangentially entering inflow connection pipes (20) and from which a radially outwardly emerging separation outlet (42) for separated-off material branches in the area in front of its end running into its beginning, a good separation efficiency with a compact construction and favourable energy requirement is achieved in that the deflection grid of the suction pipe (29) is divided in the axial direction into a plurality of sections (38) by radial shutters (37). <IMAGE>
